Since its introduction into the marketplace in 1998, Safety Turtle has been a parental favorite. Traditional models will sound when water levels are displaced. Instead, the Safety Turtle pool alarm wristband is actually worn by the child.
The complete system, in addition to the wristband, is comprised of a base station unit and a sensor. It even includes units that may be worn by pets. Safety Turtle operates on a color-coded system, so make sure that the turtle wristbands and the baby turtle on the base station are compatible by buying coordinating colors. This is especially useful for neighbors, who may each use the Turtle system, but can operate on different colors, or frequencies.
The wristband is ideal for families with pools, as well as those who spend a lot of time at a lake or public pool. Due to the immediacy of the alarm, which sounds when a child enters the water, there is adequate time for an adult to react. The product is best used when used consistently. The History of the Turtle
The product line was initially conceived in 1996 with toddlers and home swimming pools in mind. Dreamed up by Dr. Bob Lyons, who used his background in radio and satellite communications as his inspiration, the Safety Turtle pool alarm was introduced in late 1998.
In the 10 years since its introduction, Safety Turtle has expanded its line beyond U.S. borders to countries including Australia and South Africa, among several other vacation destinations.
Of course, although the product is renowned for its ease of use and effectiveness, the first line of defense is responsible adult supervision. Use the Turtle as a supplemental preventative measure.
